Quality dog treat ingredients are the key to making healthy homemade dog treats that our canine friends will love.

I focus on ingredients that are natural and nutritious. I try to avoid using salt, sugar, or processed foods. Here are some my favorite dog treat ingredients that I use when making dog treats:

Whole Grains
Whole grains include all three parts of the grain – the bran, germ and endosperm. Whole grains are a good source of fiber, protein, Vitamin B, Vitamin E, magnesium, iron, as well as other valuable antioxidants. You’ll see a variety of whole grains in our dog treat recipes including:

All natural peanut butter is an excellent source of Vitamin A, Vitamin E, protein, folic acid, fiber, and other vitamins and minerals. In addition it is a good source of healthy fat. Make sure to use all natural peanut butter. The ingredients should be: peanuts.

Pumpkin
Pumpkins contain beta-carotene,an antioxidant. Antioxidants help improve immune function and reduce the risk of cancer and heart disease. Pumpkins are high in fiber, and loaded with many nutrients and vitamins.
