At Gourmet Dog Treat Recipes We Know...Life is Better With Dogs!

Welcome and thank you for visiting our site. I'm Cheryl, the owner and publisher of Gourmet Dog Treat Recipes. I've had a life long love of animals, especially dogs.

I've lived most of my life with dogs, except for a short time in my young adulthood when I was "dogless". No doubt about it, life is better with dogs.

My husband Tony and I currently live with two dogs..Larry and Sammi. They are both in their senior years and we treasure every day we have with them. They serve as our quality control team and diligently test the dog treat recipes we post to this site.

Here is a picture of Larry and Sammi along with their brother Howard.

Our dog treat recipe taste testers.

We recently had to say goodbye to Howard after sixteen amazing years. Howard LOVED food and was the inspiration for my first dog treat recipe. The treats came to be known as Howard Approved Gourmet Dog Treats.

I've been making healthy dog treats at home for over eight years. I started making them for our own dogs and then I started giving them as dog gifts to family and friends at Christmas. I even expanded to selling treats locally during the holiday season and had repeat customers for several years.

Tony and I owned a pet sitting business for several years. The dog treats were always a welcome gift for our canine clients. Pet sitting was a dream come true for me. It was an honor and joy to care for all of the cats, dogs, bunnies, birds, fish, and the occasional hermit crab we met along the way.

As much as we loved pet sitting, there came a time when life led us in a different direction. We decided to relocate to a new city. One of the most difficult aspects of moving was saying goodbye to our pet sitting clients...both human and furry kind.

Now that we've relocated I continue to love making delicious treats for our own canine companions and am working towards turning this passion into my own dog treat business.

In my current "day job", I work as a Human Resources professional. The best part of working in HR is the opportunity to coach others about their career choices. My advice is always to do what you love. This site is a product of following my own advice.

Our mission at Gourmet Dog Treat Recipes is to celebrate our lives with dogs...one treat at a time.
