Larry's Soft Dog Treats

Carrot and Honey Mini Pupcakes

These soft dog treats are made with healthy, all natural ingredients and are great for dogs that have teeth problems. This versatile recipe also makes a great dog birthday cake.

The whole grains provide protein, fiber, and a variety of vitamins and minerals. The honey, carrots, and applesauce provide a natural sweetness to the pupcakes. Best of all, these ingredients contain antioxidants which can help improve immune function and reduce the risk of cancer and heart disease.

Larry's Soft Dog Treats

Larry waiting for soft dog treats
1 Cup Whole Wheat Flour
1/2 Cup Rolled Oats
1 Tablespoon Brewers Yeast
1/2 Teaspoon Cinnamon
1/2 Teaspoon Baking Powder
1/2 Cup Grated Carrots
1 Egg
1/2 Cup Applesauce
1 1/2 Tablespoons Canola Oil
1/4 Cup Milk

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

In a medium bowl combine the Wheat flour, Oats, Brewers Yeast, Cinnamon, and Baking Powder. In a separate bowl slightly beat the egg and then beat in applesauce, milk, and oil. Stir in the grated carrots. Add the liquid to the dry ingredients and mix together.

Spoon batter into a mini muffin pan, filling 3/4 full. Bake 10 minutes or until a tooth pick inserted in the center comes out clean. Store treats in the refrigerator for up to one week. I usually freeze some and defrost as needed.

Tips: Baking these pupcakes in a mini muffin pan yielded 32 mini pupcakes. You can also spoon these onto a cookie sheet and make cookies as large or small as you like. They also bake up well as standard size muffins...for Doggie Birthday Cakes perhaps? Adjust baking times as necessary.

Does your dog need to take medication? These treats also work great for concealing pills.
